A skincare Miricle?

The National Eczema Society are trying to keep awareness high for children and adults that have severe eczema. This week especially, there is a focus on  adults who can find it physically and mentally debilitating to the extent they are unable to work.

This post is a follow on/ update on a review I did a few months ago on Eternal Skincare Aloe Super Hydrating Moisturiser.

Eternal Aloe Skincare is the result of three years of research and development. It is "a luxuriously rich hydrating cream particularly suitable to those with dry skin conditions".

It is available in a large 225ml pot from £30 or a 12ml mini for £3.50. I originally  received a 12ml mini fragrance free pot to try. I thought it was rather  lovely but commented that I would have liked a bigger pot as I could not do a full review on the effects on reducing my eczema.

Lucky for me they liked the review which you can read here and did indeed send me the larger pot to try. This was completely unexpected and I was thrilled to get the opportunity to trial it properly. I was very grateful as this cream really is rather lovely. After using it for a longer period all over my body and on my daughter I can safely say my first review did not do it justice (which I did originally say I thought would be the case).

Free from parabens and other controversial stabilisers (thought to increase risk of cancer), it contains a high concentration of organically grown aloe leaf juice. This has traditionally been used as a natural remedy to soothe, soften, moisturise and heal skin. It combines all the beneficial effects of Aloe Vera with other natural ingredients including, Chamomile, Green Tea, Shea Butter, Rose hip oil and Calendula extract.

This product is very natural and is not bulked out with water. It feels lovely and smooth, is easy to apply and absorbs into the skin quickly too. It does not really smell of anything but being so natural I wouldn't expect it to. It is suitable for all skin types from young and supple to mature and delicate. You can use it all over your body including the face.

I have used this on my skin with fantastic results but the most dramatic has been on my eldest Daughter's skin. She was suffering from eczema quite badly at the start on her face, stomach, back and tops of her arms.  Within a few days of using this, her skin no longer looked red and sore and after a week it was practically gone.

I think this cream is pretty miraculous and we give it a huge 10/10. I will be definitely be buying more.

Promoting National Eczema Week

Did you know that this week is National Eczema Week? I only found out about it last week when I was asked to trial and review some products for my family. Basically the National Eczema society are busy raising awareness of eczema and the effects it has on peoples lives. You can find out more about ways they are doing this here. 

As I have mentioned many times on here, both my little girls suffer from eczema and I do too. Poppys is the worst.  She is prone to fair ups on her face, tops of arms, stomach and back. She has had it since birth.  Rosie has begun to develop it over the past few months. She has it on the tops of her arms and face too.  I am pretty stable at the moment but again I am prone to flair ups. In the past I have had it all over but nowadays it tends to be the tops of my arms, face and neck.

I have always been very careful with the products I use including toiletries and washing detergents. I discovered one of the best products for the girls was Baby Aveeno (which I have not yet found  available in the UK). Once my supply ran out when Rosie was about 6 months old I switched to the Baby Bees range by Burt's which is really gentle and smells nice too.  If I use the traditional baby products they tend to set them off. There is nothing worse than seeing your little ones scratch their skin until it is red rore!

As I mentioned at the start I have been asked to review some products to help support National Eczema Week and raise its awareness. The package only arrived today but I was very impressed with this generous bundle of goodies and am keen to get trialing them:
 

 

I have been sent two products for the girls to try: Barefoot SOS Daily rich body lotion and a A-DERMA cleansing oil for the face and body. I have also EAU THERMALE Avène cleanser and moisteriser for myself which I am looking forward to trying soon. I am currently in the process of reviewing other products for me that I will tell you about later this week.

Review of New Plum Breakfast Pouches

Rosie was one this week and apart from one weekend when we went off to a Wedding she has never had any pre-prepared baby food.  On that one occasion we used Plum and Ellas Kitchen and I blogged about it here.

However, when approached by Plum to try out some new breakfast cereals, I decided why not?  I mentioned my daughters age and told them that she eats a variety of food and they sent a goody box full of all sorts of pouches and snacks.  It will take us a while to get through them but watch this space for more reviews.

For those of you that follow me on twitter, you will know that Rosie has been teething for the past few days and has been really suffering.  It has really affected her appetite meaning she has eaten very little for three days now, which is most unlike her.  For that reason I decided to try out a breakfast pouch this morning.

We tried the Banana, Apricot & Oaty Porridge which will retail for £0.99. This is actually a stage 1 and up food but for a teething Daughter I thought it might appeal. 

Usually one for feeding herself and not eating anything I feed her, little Rosie loved it and ate the lot. She happily kept opening her mouth for more and was actually licking her lips. I also gave it the quality control test and decided it tasted of a fruity rice pudding. but had the texture of a puree. As she is that bit older I gave her some chopped fruit too just to make sure she was full.

Come lunch time, I put a sandwich in front of her with some raspberries and blueberries.  Usually she would happily munch away but today she nibbled at a bit of the fruit before crying.  I decided her teeth must still be playing up so I offered her the other baby cereal. I thought it might be a little more filling then the fruit pouches or just yougart!

This one was Prune, Peach and Baby Rice and will also retail for £0.99. We kind of skipped the baby rice stage when weening Rosie, instead opting to try pureed fruits first quickly followed with baby led weening. I therefore wasn't quite sure what Rosie would make of this. She did pull a funny face at first but quickly opened her mouth for more.  I tasted it and it is a little sharper but does not taste unpleasant. Again she ate the lot!  I  gave her a fromage frais to accompany it but she didn't want anything else.

So there you have it, two new breakfast cereals coming soon in pouch form. Rosie tried and tested them and thought they were great, especially on a day when she found it difficult to eat due to sore and sensitive gums.

Mums will be happy knowing there is no junk in them and will like the fact that there is no fuss or mess.  You just screw the lid off and feed it to your little one from a spoon, or you can stand the pouch in some warm water to heat it up  a little if they prefer. Handy for taking out and about.

I am not going to stop cooking for my little one or anything but I would have no issues with giving her Plum baby foods again  if away on holiday or something! We would give these particular pouches a score of 9/10.

What do I like about it?
Both my Girls suffer from eczema so I have to be very careful what I use on their skin. I loved this product.  unlike other oils it is a thick, creamy consistency and soaked into the skin really well.

I also like that the product itself is pleasing to the eye, is nice to rub in and the packaging is environmentally friendly too.

What didn't I like about it?
I liked everything about the product.  I guess the only thing I would change would be to make it a little cheaper.
