Mould and Paint Glitter Eggs

Weve been asked to trial and review some mould and paint glitter eggs from Great Gizmos as an alternative for Easter presents.

These are basically plaster fridge magnets and hanging ornaments which require moulding and painting.

Everything you need is included within the kit:

  • Blister mould
  • 2 bags of plaster (enough for 4 hanging decorations)
  • Magnets
  • Paint strip of 5 colours and a paintbrush
  • Ribbon
  • Double sided adhesive foams
  • Sandpaper
  • Glitter
  • and of course detailed instructions

Aimed at children aged 5+, my little ones were a bit young at 3 1/2 and 21 months but they had great fun. I let Poppy do the moulding one day whilst Rosie was napping but they both had a go at decorating them.

The plaster was pretty easy to do, you just add water and mixed to the right consistency. Then you pour into the moulds and leave to set. Poppy did over fill ours a little but it was very easy to sand down afterwards.

I just let the girls have fun with the decoration and din't expect much. I think with older ones they could get really creative and have great fun as well as producing much better efforts than we did. However, I was happy with what we achieved:

So we made one hanging decoration, 2 fridge magnets and we still have another bag of plaster left to have more fun another day:

I would say they have the age range right on these and that children will have lots of fun. The older they are the better they will be but my girls loved them anyway.

If you want to get your hands on some, you can find them at various places including Amazon. for 7.99.

They get the thumbs up from us and make great gifts or alternatives to chocolate eggs.
