Thinking Slimmer and MUMenTUM

At the start of the year I was suffering with lack of energy and had been looking and feeling a bit of a tired Mummy, rather than a yummy one.  Anyway, I decided the time had come for a bit of action and that the best way to make sure I stuck to it, was to blog about it.

I started dieting and exercising and I was doing pretty well but lapsed slightly once people started to comment that I was looking good..I know it should have been an incentive to keep going, but I got carried away!

A group of us then starting to chat via twitter about trying to lose weight and MoMenTum was born (we later changed it to MUMenTUM). Note the MUM TUM, which is what we are trying to lose! A weekly blog hop was set up and support invaluable.

Next I started working with Thinking Slimmer and ditched the diet to trial two slimpods which worked really well - Drop Two Jean Sizes and Chocoholic cure. I felt liberated with no longer dieting, slimmer and generally really well.

I even went on to become a runner up in their facebook competition with my story

....Then I discovered I was 6 weeks pregnant!!

Terrified of giving up my beloved slimpods and gaining lots of unnecessary weight, I quickly approached Sandra to ask for advice. Between us and after consulting my GP (who wasn't very helpful) we decided I would listen to the maintenance one and chocoholic cure 3-4 times a week.

So far so good, I am eating really well with no morning sickness!

If you are interested then feel free to follow my progress and if you yourself want to tone up and get fit then feel free to join the blog hop on Mondays.

26th March - 23 Weeks Pregnant

Having lost a stone and a dress size  with Thinking Slimmer before getting pregnant I wanted to make sure I didn't pile on the weight once pregnant. I therefore spoke with Sandra and we decided I would switch slimpod from the drop 2 Jean sizes to the maintain your weight one - to try and help me stay healthy throughout my pregnancy.

I am now 23 weeks pregnant with baby number 3 and am feeling great!

I listen to my slimpod approximately 2-3x a week and find it has helped me to:
  • Relax and enjoy a good nights sleep
  • Not slip back into old eating habits
  • Not pile on lots of excess weight not baby/pregnancy related
  • Eat a pretty healthy, sensible diet

This was never about losing weight...that would be both silly and irresponsible,.

I am just trying to  stay as healthy as possible for both my baby and myself. and  wanted to prevent slipping back into old eating habits and piling on excess weight that would be hard to shift once this baby pops out! I must admit, I think I might be on the right track.

This is me today at 23 weeks (I have popped out a bit in the past week):

I think you can see the weight is around my tummy where it should be rather than on my legs and bottom!

I am currently eating 3 meals a day plus one snack around 3pm. I always start the day with cereal and am eating plenty of fresh fruit too. I would be lying if I said I haven't eaten any junk but I have not gone mad. I definitely haven't been eating for two.

I think my slimpod has helped me:

  • Want to eat a well balanced, healthy diet,
  • therefore preventing serious food cravings as not missing valuable nutrients
  • Have little sickness
  • Not pig out or over indulge too much
  • Feel good because I am not putting on huge amounts of weight

I have only had 3 weeks of feeling sick during this pregnancy and during that time did crave a few naughty things like sweets and salt and vinegar crisps. I just went with it though, as was feeling awful. Since those few weeks past though, I have  been feeling really good and have eaten much, much better.

I am definitely not worried about losing the weight afterwards either, I will just switch back to my old slimpod and know I don't need to worry or focus on my diet.  This will be particularly good as I am hoping to breast feed again and don't want to have to watch what I am eating. The slimpod makes you chose healthy options, smaller portions without thinking about it.

I am not weighing myself each week but I know what I weighed at the start and will see what I weigh at the end. I never wanted to become obsessed about weight though...as I said, it was about more than that.

For me Thinking Slimmer is helping me to stay healthy throughout this pregnancy and I am feeling great.

16th Jan - 13 Weeks Pregnant

Before Christmas I was feeling great. I had lost weight, was back in my size 12 clothes and feeling liberated by no longer needing to diet. I went to bed each night with my slimpods and generally felt slimmer, happier and more in control of my life than I had in a while.

.....Then I discovered I was pregnant!

I was thrilled of course but at the same time terrified that I would pile on the weight so contacted Sandra from Thinking Slimmer for advice.

Sandra was fantastic. She did advise me to speak to my GP first but they were not much help at all. We then talked and decided that I would continue listening to my chocoholic cure but switch the drop two jeans sizes for the maintenance one.

I have been using these 3-4 times per week for the past 7 weeks, since I discovered I was 6 weeks pregnant. I am really pleased with the results.

Now I must reassure you that I do not plan to lose weight whilst pregnant...that would be ridiculous!

I just want to eat healthy and feel healthy, which is what the slimpod's did for me.

I can tell you that:
  • I have been eating three balanced meals a day
  • I am drinking plenty of water
  • I have only put on a few pounds and am still in my size 12 jeans
  • I have had no cravings
  • I have had no sickness
  • I am feeling pretty good
Now obviously my body is changing at this time but I am feeling okay about it:

I have recently had a scan and all looks okay with the baby too and just as they would expect.

I will be keeping Sandra up to date with how I am getting.on and will let you know too.

In the meantime there is no getting away from the fact that my stomach is going to be growing over the next few months but hopefully you will all be shrinking. I will keep following your journeys so good luck
